12. iN A dREAM

(VILLANUEVA)

The night it rushes in

and covers Earth like a sheet

spreading it's blessed state

the call that slumber bids

The stars are shining brightly

the moon is glowing dim

a silver scythe that hovers high

and pushes me so deep

in a dream

Wrapped in sheets I shiver

in wait of what's to be

and as shadows join their hands

their darkness grown in me

my doubts will fade away

my fears at last will cease

for they'll drown so deep in a trance

as I probe into the abyss

In a dream

And this cold that runs  in me

will never let me go

it's grip holding so tightly

'tween flesh and blood is sewn

a lull comes over me

it soothes and folds my will

and all my qualms give way to a calm

as I slide deeper still

In a dream

In a dream

I long to sleep

so very deep

and find in it

peace
